Annie Leibovitz, the famous photographer, is selling her 65-acre farm in California for $8.99 million, just five years after buying it. The estate, known as 'The Hideaway,' includes a historic homestead and various barns. Leibovitz invested $2 million in improvements but decided to sell after her daughter opted to attend college in the Northeast.
The property boasts a tranquil landscape, but Leibovitz did not spend as much time there as she had hoped. The farm was intended to be a working and teaching farm, a plan that did not come to fruition. Leibovitz also recently sold her New York City duplex for $10.62 million.
Leibovitz, who has always considered herself a 'California person,' bought the property for $7.5 million just before the COVID-19 outbreak. She envisioned returning to her roots and partnering with a local farmer, but her daughter's college plans led to the decision to sell.
The farm includes a modern kitchen, tranquil bedrooms, and a spacious barn. The serene countryside landscape has inspired renowned photographers, including Ansel Adams in the 1930s. Leibovitz's decision to sell comes after $2 million in investments to the property.
